Women's Information Center on High-Level Conference "Achieving Gender Equality"
Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili opened the International High-Level Conference “Achieving Gender Equality – Challenges and opportunities in the European Neighbourhood Policy Region” in Tbilisi at Radisson Blu Iveria Hotel on November 10. H.E. Federica Mogherini – High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission is among the special guests together with other officials from all over the world.
Women's political and economic empowerment cornerstones for the achievement of gender equality, Joining forces to end violence against women and girls in public and private domains and Women as agents of positive change in peace and security efforts are the three main thematic sessions. Director of Women’s Information center Elene Rusetskaia summarizes all the above mentioned topics in her speech.
Exhibition “Women Members of Constituent Assembly 1919-21” presented by Ms. Thea Tsulukiani Minister of Justice of Georgia honours the first women in politics in modern Georgia and highlighting the election of the Constituent Assembly in 1919, which was unique in that every citizen of Georgia, despite their gender, was able to participate. This Exhibition is jointly organized by the Women’s Information Center (WIC) and the National Archives of Georgia. |
