The project “Mobilizing communities to prevent and respond to violence against women” has been implemented in Pankisi Gorge and some of activities were held in Tbilisi.

In the process of preventing and responding to violence against women, Women's Information Center has used three kinds of activities: educational cultural and sport.

Information about the project was maximally spread both in the villages of Pankisi Gorge and in the capital city by using traditional (TV, Radio) and social (WIC Facebook page, web site www.ginsc.net) media.

Most of planned activities were successfully held in the region: trainings, lectures, sport activities: chess, backgammon, horse race, cultural activities: folk concert in Duisi, legal consultations, research.

Up to 350 people were directly involved in project activities, which have covered all 9 villages of Pankisi Gorge.

The main result of the project is changed attitude of population of Pankisi Gorge towards violence: most of them did not know that there are other forms of violence except physical and some of project participants realized that they had been victims of DV and they’ve understood what they have to do in such cases. Besides, the project has changed the attitude of male population of Pankisi Gorge, which considered that economic violence and easy forms of physical violence is normal. It is very important, that in some of DV cases policemen do not have adequate reaction and the involvement of police officers, prosecutors and judges was very fruitful. Besides, gender advisor of Akhmeta Municipality was actively involved in trainings and advocacy processes of local population's problems.

In the frame of the project, Women’s Information Center gave information about the problems of Pankisi Gorge to different state structures.

We take great pride in announcing that WIC from Georgia has been bestowed with the esteemed CAREC PROGRAM Gender Award—CAREC GENDER CHAMPIONS 2023. Certainly, it is noteworthy that women's organizations from various countries around the world were nominated for this prestigious award

On July 26, 2019, representatives of the Women's Information Center organized a focus group in Kobuleti Municipality that included local leaders and women entrepreneurs who use / do not use the Women's Room Service. The purpose of the focus group was to evaluate the use of women's room services in the municipality for effective planning of further work.
