WOMEN EMPOWERMENT THROUGH ACCESS TO INFORMATION

The Small-scale Awareness Raising Campaigns on Violence against Women and Domestic Violence in Guria within the Functional Title: WOMEN EMPOWERMENT THROUGH ACCESS TO INFORMATION has been implemented by Women’s Information Center (WIC) with the support of UN Women.Within the project activities were conducted in all three municipalities of Guria.

The project has covered the following activities: training for representatives of the local SCOs and a film screenings and discussions in three municipalities of the Guria region. The target group of the project's awareness campaign has been launched at different levels: At the policy level: representatives/ decision makers of the local self-government; At the middle level: Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), opinion leaders and the local media representatives has been identified as they play a key role in sharing information, promoting human rights and gender equality in a very operative way.

As the result of the implemented action:the priority needs and issues of the region of Guria has been identified; Increased interest, motivation and participation of the target local authorities and opinion leaders;Strengthened cooperation and communication between community members and local decision makers, toward addressing particular needs of communities;particular cases has been identified.

We take great pride in announcing that WIC from Georgia has been bestowed with the esteemed CAREC PROGRAM Gender Award—CAREC GENDER CHAMPIONS 2023. Certainly, it is noteworthy that women's organizations from various countries around the world were nominated for this prestigious award

On July 26, 2019, representatives of the Women's Information Center organized a focus group in Kobuleti Municipality that included local leaders and women entrepreneurs who use / do not use the Women's Room Service.The purpose of the focus group was to evaluate the use of women's room services in the municipality for effective planning of further work.
